Old Town

Our school district has a great integration program where the students learn about San Diego's history and meet students from other schools.  We meet in Old Town, San Diego each day for a week.  The students learn about five different eras of San Diego's history, Native Californians, Spanish Colonial, Mexican Ranch, American Expansion, and New Town.  The kids learn in the classroom first, then they get to walk around the town and see what life was like during the different eras.
The best thing for us teachers is delicious lunches.  We get an hour for lunch, which gives us time to visit the abundance of restaurants in the area.  My favorite place is the Old Town Mexican Cafe for carnitas.  Fred's has good tacos, and the deli has great sandwiches (also a great selection of tequila).
